Back in August, Disney shut down its Gore Verbinski–directed Lone Ranger remake, citing concerns about the film’s projected $275 million price tag. However, Deadline now reports that the project is back on: Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and star Johnny Depp (the Tonto to Armie Hammer’s Ranger) seem to have convinced the studio to go forward with the film — albeit with a downsized budget (they’ll now be working with around $215 million). Of course, no one likes cutting costs, but as Depp himself with tell you, some money is always better than none at all. [Deadline]
