We’ve long been looking forward to Steven Soderbergh’s biopic of flamboyant entertainer Liberace, which is set to star Michael Douglas in the title role and Matt Damon as his younger lover, Scott Thorson. (Although Thorson was only 24 when he sued Liberace for palimony, while Damon is now 41. But, movie magic!) HBO and producer Jerry Weintraub announced today that the network has secured the rights to the formerly big-screen project, which now bears the perfect title Behind the Candelabra and is set to shoot in summer 2012. And if Soderbergh needs to import any of his A-list male strippers from Magic Mike, who would begrudge him that? The man’s on a homoerotic roll!
