If 2011 belonged to super-prolific movie stars like Natalie Portman, Justin Timberlake, and Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum will have them all beat come next year. He’s already got a whopping six movies on tap for 2012: the double-dip day of Magic Mike and G.I. Joe: Retaliation, his romantic weepie The Vow, the low-budget indie Ten Year, a supporting role in Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire, and the big-screen wink-wink reboot of 21 Jump Street. It’s the latter we’ve come to discuss today, as a red-band trailer for 21 Jump Street has debuted on Facebook, casting Tatum and an intermediately slimmed Jonah Hill as less-than-ideal cops who go undercover at a high school to bust Dave Franco’s drug ring. It looks pretty funny! Channing Tatum does the worm and flusters Ellie Kemper with his pecs! Jonah Hill cusses in an intellectual, improvisatory fashion! No Johnny Depp cameo yet, but sit tight and it’s sure to come.
