While most networks are getting on the wagon train headed west (Hell On Wheels, the upcoming Rifleman reboot), the trail does not seem to extend to the south. FX has finally passed on Outlaw Country, a drama/thriller about a Southern crime family, after some failed retooling and a long time on the shelf. Instead, they’re going with the comic-book adaptation Powers, in which Jason Patric plays as a cop who solves crimes involving superhero-types. While Powers also needs retooling and Outlaw would’ve given us John Hawkes on a weekly basis, the FX execs have spoken, so Justified and Sons of Anarchy will be the network’s main sources of outlaws (and Deadwood alumni) for the foreseeable future.
