Despite Vulture’s protestations, Serious Director Martin Scorsese is firmly in favor of his cohort’s recent experiments with 3-D. In an interview with Deadline about his latest project, the 3-D kids movie Hugo, Scorsese said that, going forward, he’d like to use the technology in all of his films: “I don’t think there’s a subject matter that can’t absorb 3-D; that can’t tolerate the addition of depth as a storytelling technique,†he explained. “We view everyday life with depth.â€Â When asked which of his past projects would have benefited most from being shot in 3-D, he suggested Taxi Driver “because of the intimidation of the main character, his presence is everywhere, a frightening kind of presence.†Just imagine the possibilities! (Or don’t — it’s kind of scary.)
