Here’s the trailer for Project X, a new comedy about “a group of buds who set out to throw the most epic 17th birthday party ever.†Righteous, dude! It’s directed by The Hangover’s Todd Phillips, and is shot at least in part using footage from the characters’ digital cameras. Sounds a lot like The Virginity Hit, which didn’t do wonderfully in theaters. But maybe Project X will do better? It doesn’t look particularly funny, but test audiences are calling it “the new Superbad†and “American Pie on steroids,†so maybe the movie is way, way better than its trailer. We’ll find out in March.
