After a messy parting of the ways with original Thor 2 director Patty Jenkins, Marvel is rumored to be replacing her with Alan Taylor, best known for his work on cable series like Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire. The good news is that replacing Jenkins so quickly will likely keep the movie on schedule to meet its original release date of November 15, 2013. The bad news is for Thor 2 star Natalie Portman, who, unhappy with Jenkins’s firing, was probably hoping Jenkins would be replaced by someone of the same gender (Thor 2 would have been the first big superhero movie with a woman director). So much for smashing gender inequality with a giant hammer.Â
