ABC’s cross-dressing comedy Work It, always a questionable proposition, is now facing loud protests from LGBT groups, like the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and the Human Rights Campaign, who say the show “reinforces negative and damaging stereotypes about transgender people.†GLAAD has targeted the recent print ad (shown here, cropped), which pictures the two lead characters in women’s get-up peeing at urinals, as particularly damaging and called for ABC to pull it from circulation. But the groups’ best bet may be to simply let the show air on January 3, flop fabulously, and be cut even faster than NBC’s The Playboy Club, which lasted just three episodes.
