This morning, we learned that Glenn Close picked up a Golden Globe nomination for her role in Albert Nobbs. She’s been close to the story — about a woman who disguises herself as a man in order to survive in nineteenth-century Ireland — since staging a production of it in 1982; all said, it took her fifteen years to make. When we spoke with the actress at a Cinema Society screening of the film at the Museum of Modern Art this week, we asked her if she’d ever spend that much time on a project again. “I don’t think I’ll live that long!†she said. “I’ll be crawling to the set, in my nineties.†We also asked if she had anything to do with getting her Nobbs co-star Janet McTeer, now a fellow GG nominee, cast in the final season of her DirecTV show Damages. “Yes, I did,†she said. “Because last season there were a lot of guys and I said to our writers, ‘You owe me and Rose [Byrne] one kick-ass actress.’ And I’d just worked with Janet and I love her and I’m so thrilled.†For more from the carpet, click through our slideshow.
