Russell Brand is recognizable for his often-animated comic style, but soon, he could also be known for creating an animated TV series. Vulture has learned exclusively that the British actor–comedian is in advance talks to team with New Girl producers Chernin Entertainment and 20th Century Fox TV for a possible half-hour ‘toon. Under the deal coming together, Dan Fybel and Rich Rinaldi, veterans of the Sarah Silverman Program currently working on Fox’s Bob’s Burgers, would write the pilot script; they’d share “created by†credit with Brand. The trio would also executive produce, along with Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope. There’s no network attached yet, though 20th’s sister, Fox, will likely have first dibs on the concept once it’s formally pitched. So just what twisted idea has Katy Perry’s other half come up with? We can’t say: For now, the concept is being kept under wraps. It’s also not yet clear whether or not Brand will lend his vocal chords to the show, should it move forward, though he’s certainly got Toon Town experience. Brand was Dr. Nefario in last year’s Despicable Me and played the lead role of E.B. in this year’s Hop.
