Desperate Housewives’ upcoming series finale will be the absolute last chapter, Marc Cherry vowed at a TCA panel yesterday, so fear not the cultural punishment of a Desperate movie. “After eight years, I think we’re done,†Cherry said, unlike some shows. “I’m just never sending these gals to Dubai, that’s all I’m saying,†Cherry joked, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Sex and the City, he said, “hadn’t really plumbed the depth of [its] characters,†so they were allowed to do a movie, but he considers the residents of Wisteria Lane fully plumbed. There’s also the fact that SATC went out while still very popular and beloved, while DH will finish its eighth season substantially less popular and beloved than it once was, but Cherry didn’t mention that part.
