In a move that producers Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Rob Tapert are hoping fans will find “groovy,†the Evil Dead remake’s lead now has a totally remade gender, with Lily Collins (Snow White) set to star where a dude once did. While the previous lead, Ash, was played with much goofy, macho swagger by now-producer Campbell, there’s no reason Collins’s character, Mia, can’t be as funny and deft with a chainsaw as Ash was, especially with Diablo Cody revising the script. Besides, if all goes well and they also remake the sequel, Army of Darkness, it’ll be fun to see how both Cody and Collins handle the “boomstick.â€
