If Mel Brooks had success mining his back catalogue for Broadway musicals, surely Woody Allen can, too? Producers announced today that Allen is co-writing (with Douglas McGrath) a stage version of his 1994 film Bullets Over Broadway, a theater-set comedy that won Dianne Wiest an Oscar. The tunes for the show (which should debut on Broadway next year) will come from pre-exisiting Prohibition-era classics, so sorry, guys: This seems to mean that there won’t be any sort of No Doubt/“Don’t Speak†crossover. But it seemed like such a gimme!
