Sacha Baron Cohen got plenty of headlines for his upcoming comedy The Dictator when he showed up in costume at the Oscars (and dowsed Ryan Seacrest in ash), but all that stunting may have obscured how different the film is from Cohen’s Borat and Bruno, which wrung most of their laughs from unscripted encounters with people who weren’t in on the joke. As the new Dictator trailer makes clear, this is actually a very scripted affair: In fact, Anna Faris appears for the first time as a de-glammed love interest for Cohen’s character, a dictator who’s shorn of his beard and his identity after he ends up lost in New York. (And if this isn’t quite your speed, Cohen’s got two more big films coming this December: He’ll play Thenardier in Les Miserables, and then he has a crucial supporting role in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained.)
