Back in October, when Lifetime announced its intentions to remake Steel Magnolias with an all-black cast, we invited you to do some fantasy casting for the TV movie. Let’s see how you did! The network announced today that Queen Latifah will lead the cast in the role Sally Field made famous, while the additional parts will be filled like so: Jill Scott is playing Dolly Parton’s role, Alfre Woodard will fill in for Shirley Maclaine, Phylicia Rashad is the new Olympia Dukakis, Rashad’s daughter Condola has the breakout Julia Roberts part, while Pariah’s Adepero Oduye is taking over for Daryl Hannah. And nary a Viola or Octavia was to be found!
