Kanye’s First G.O.O.D. Music Album Track, ‘Mercy,’ Has Arrived

Watch the Throne was as characterized by its total gear-shifting as any of its tales of excess or power. Now, judging by “Mercy,†Kanye and his label compatriots may match that buffet of styles with swag to spare on the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music album. The usual tropes are here — Big Sean raps about asses and makes so many puns; Kanye goes HAAAH??; Pusha T shouts out his coke scales (and pairs “Audemar†with “Mardi Gras,†which is nice) — but the track sounds like a three-in-one, with all three things feeling totally fresh for this crew. The beat, courtesy of newest label signee Lifted, makes a left turn for Kanye’s verse, then swings back on course for 2 Chainz’s finish. And the whole thing is somehow here just a day after Kanye’s new joint “Theraflu.â€Â [If, like “Theraflu,†the song embed below vanishes, try heading here.
