U2 front man Bono went on MSNBC today to deny rumors that he’s now richer than former Beatle Paul McCartney, thanks to yesterday’s Facebook IPO: “Contrary to reports, I’m not a billionaire or going to be richer than any Beatle — and not just in the sense of money, by the way, The Beatles are untouchable — those billionaire reports are a joke.” He clarified that the 2.3 percent Facebook stake held by his private equity firm Elevation Partners is actually owned by a lot of investors besides himself. So maybe he’s not worth $1.5 billion, but Bono’s now certainly a lot richer than almost every other musician on the planet.
