Barbra Streisand is still mulling a big-screen take on Gypsy, but in the meantime, Showbiz 411 reports that she’s settled on her first foray into directing in sixteen years: Skinny and Cat, a romantic drama about writer Erskine Caldwell and photojournalist Margaret Bourke White, which will star Colin Firth and Cate Blanchett. Once upon a time, Streisand herself hoped to star in the story opposite Robert Redford, so let’s hope Firth and CaBla make acceptable substitutes.
