Former Obama advisor Kal Penn has been cast opposite Chris Smith in CBS’s single-cam pilot Ex-Men. Penn will play Gil, a younger fellow who was caught having the “world’s worst affair†and is living in the old dude complex until his wife takes him back. I like that in that framing, it is her fault that she won’t take him back, even though he had the “world’s worst affair,†which I can only imagine means something like he had a threesome with his wife’s sister and clone, on her birthday, on top of her dog’s eventually dead body and her father’s grave. Penn previously was seen on CBS last season on How I Met Your Mother, playing Robin’s ultimately hopeless boyfriend who wore a lot of sweaters. I think at this point Ex-Men is going to need to start casting old people. I’m pretty sure Rip Torn is available and awesome.
