This is exciting: Parks and Recreation co-creator Michael Schur and Parks scribe Dan Goor are getting ready to expand beyond Pawnee. Vulture has learned the two writers have just started pitching networks on an idea for a new half-hour comedy series, with multiple outlets taking meetings on the project. We hear the broad outlines of the show are that it’s an ensemble cop show set in one of New York City’s five boroughs. Schur and Goor will write and co-create the potential series, and both would serve as exec producers, according to industry insiders. Universal Television is producing. Before Parks fans freak out, Schur has made it clear in previous interviews that he plans to stay with the show till the end, so his involvement in something else doesn’t have anything to do with the fate or future of his current NBC series. And as Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy have shown, showrunners can multitask. Plus, Parks doesn’t have a lot of elaborate production numbers or musical montages, so a second show should be a breeze!
