30 Rock, one of NBCâs longest-running sitcoms, is ending its run next year with a final 13-episode seventh season, but the Peacock Network wonât be allowing star/creator Tina Fey to break away from its almighty corporate grasp any time soon. Fey just signed a new four-year deal with Universal TV. The new contract runs from 2013, when 30 Rock wraps up, through 2017, which will mark Feyâs 20th anniversary at the network as she started at NBC back in 1997 as a staff writer for SNL. As a part of Tina Feyâs deal, sheâs expected to form her own production company to develop her own shows as well as shows by other writers, like, say, a 30 Rock spinoff where Judah Friedlanderâs character Frank goes off to work on his familyâs beet farm. Itâd clearly be a big hit and run 20 years, keeping Tina Fey at NBC for another two decades.
