Ratings: The Office Falls to Worst Premiere Ever

The Office had its lowest-rated season premiere ever last night and its second-lowest rated episode ever: “New Guys†pulled in just 4.32 million viewers, down 46 percent among 18–49-year-olds from its premiere last year. Parks didn’t fare any better, with just 3.52 million viewers, which is down 47 percent among adults from Whitney’s premiere in the same timeslot last season. Up All Night did even worse, with just 3.14 million viewers. (The Weekend Update special pulled in 5.16 million viewers, but only 1.6 of them were in the demo, and it’s not a regular series anyway, so its relative ratings don’t have much of an effect.) Over at Fox, X-Factor was up slightly to 9.85 million, while Glee slipped a little from last week, down to a still-solid 7.42 million viewers. It’s tough to believe, but a sexy Britney Spears–themed episode of Glee beat an episode of The Office about guys getting the nicknames “Fart†and “Plop.â€
