Vulture and the Upright Citizen Brigade’s new “Pop Culture Memory Lane†video series asks funny people to share tales of bumping up against their youthful pop culture obsessions later in life, and we have animated these hilarious and oft-tragic tales. Today, a Kumar-less Harold himself, Go On’s John Cho, tells of his early love of the Smiths, and how he was shocked to one day encounter his musical idol, Morrissey, at a Filipino-gangster bar. Cho dug deep and worked up the courage to share his deepest feelings with the singer and got a very Morrissey-like response that gave him an important lesson on celebrity behavior that would serve him well later in life.
