
Louie is going on a long hiatus, Louis C.K. and FX announced this afternoon. “I don’t want to be making the doughnuts,” C.K. said on a conference call. “I want it to be something that comes from somewhere important and stays funny.” So, rather than return next summer, Louie’s fourth season won’t premiere until 2014. FX’s president John Landgraf admitted that he’s “not surprised [C.K.] needs a bit of a break,” considering that he writes, produces, stars in, and edits almost all of the episodes. But where will we get our poignant tales of surrealist middle-aged ennui in the meantime?
