Alan Yang, who’s been a Parks and Rec writer since the show’s very first season, just sold a new comedy to NBC that Parks/The Office producer Greg Daniels is producing, Deadline reports. The untitled show follows a strict father who has a near-death experience and then tries to change his hyper-responsible son’s ways to be more like his fun-loving roommates. Yang also had a pilot in development at NBC last season with Daniels producing, an animated show about a bunch of 20somethings sharing a house, but the project didn’t move forward. Yang’s first movie, a Superbad-esque teen comedy called Gay Dude was filmed last year, and is awaiting release. This is the second new comedy sale for Greg Daniels this season, who is also producing a Craig Robinson music teacher sitcom that’s currently in the works. Hopefully, next season, all of NBC’s new shows will just be made up of shows from Parks and Rec and The Office’s writers.
