Daily Show alumnus Steve Carell just sold a new show to Fox that he’ll be producing as a starring vehicle for current Daily Show correspondent Jason Jones. Brothers Chris and Paul Weitz (American Pie, About a Boy) are also producing the untitled pilot, which is being written by Jones. The show will star Jones as a single Manhattanite who is forced to raise his sister’s two kids when she gets called away for military duty. Jason Jones has been trying to break into primetime TV for a while now. This is the fourth network pilot he’s worked on in the last five years. He starred in The Assistants for CBS in 2011, How to Be a Better American for ABC in 2010, and wrote a show with his wife/fellow Daily Show correspondent Samantha Bee for CBS in 2008. Jones joined The Daily Show in 2005, just missing Steve Carell, who departed earlier that year.
