‘The Office’ and ‘Parks and Rec’ Mastermind Greg Daniels Sells a Tennis Comedy to Fox

Greg Daniels, creator of the U.S. version of The Office and co-creator of Parks and Recreation and King of the Hill, just put another comedy into development at Fox, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It’s an untitled single camera show about a mediocre tennis pro named Richie who returns to his college town in order to get his life together. There, Richie finds himself caught between growing up and pursuing Kristen, the love of his life, and partying with younger bar-owning brother Tom.  The show was created by Richie Keen, a director on Important Things with Demetri Martin and Always Sunny, and Tom Gormican, who wrote and directed the upcoming Zac Efron comedy Are We Officially Dating? Greg Daniels will serve as executive producer via his company Deedle Dee Productions. It’s just one of five shows Daniels has in development for next season, including one starring Craig Robinson as a musician-turned-music teacher, a father-son comedy created by Parks writer Alan Yang, one created by Harris Wittels that stars Brian Baumgartner as an airline exec, and a show by The Office’s Robert Padnick about four friends and their romantic entanglements. So, when The Office wraps up its final season in May, Daniels should have a new show to work on - or several.
