Last night, late-night TV was gold. Matt Damon finally took revenge for the alleged 1,205 times Jimmy Kimmel had bumped him off the show. But last night, “good triumph[ed] over evil. Exercising the force of “Luke Skywalker,” Matt Damon vanquished the “Death Star” and shut his “garbage hole” up with a gag and duct tape. And to cast allies for his Axis of Good, he brought on board a super A-list so long you couldn’t name them all in one breath: Nicole Kidman, Gary Oldman, Amy Adams, Reese Witherspoon, Demi Moore, Robin Williams, Sheryl Crow (who took over as band leader and performed her new single, “Easy”), Andy Garcia (the taller Hispanic equivalent of Kimmel’s sidekick, Guillermo), Jennifer Lopez, John Krasinski, Sally Field, Robert DeNiro, Don Cheadle, Oprah, and [wait for it] … Jimmy’s ex-girlfriend and Matt’s ex-lover, Sarah Silverman. Even Ben Affleck couldn’t save Kimmel. Plus: On The Daily Show, Christopher Walken was gratifyingly wry — he owns neither a computer nor a cellphone, and for that matter, not a single “footprint in the cloud” — and on Conan, Jack McBrayer enacted three post-30 Rock roles: the “bad guy” in a fake movie, the spokesperson for a fake Bud Light commercial, and a BB-gun-toting, crow-shooting, pajama-clad “hillbilly” in real life.
