Melissa McCarthy and husband Ben Falcone have set up a production company, On the Day, and selected three films to get things started. “We’ve been writing together for longer than we’ve been married,” reads a statement from the couple. “To be able to produce our own work and other people’s work that we are so passionate about is really a dream come true.” McCarthy and Falcone will write and produce Michelle Darnell, with McCarthy set to star, although there’s no word on a plot yet. McCarthy will also appear in an adaptation of the memoir Just Do It: How One Couple Turned Off the TV and Turned On Their Sex Lives for 101 Days (No Excuses!), with On the Day producing. Lastly, the pair will lend their talents to Cousin Irv From Mars, based on a forthcoming book by cartoonist and writer Bruce Eric Kaplan.
