Seven years later, Pessl is set to release her follow-up, Night Film, which is described as “a psychological literary thriller in which an investigative journalist sets out to discover the truth behind the apparent suicide of Ashley Cordova, daughter of a reclusive, cult-horror film director who hasn’t been seen in public in over 30 years.†Journalist, okay, suicide, okay — wait, there’s a “cult-horror film director†in this thing? That just put us over the top. Night Film will be out on August 20.
