NBC announced its summer schedule this week, revealing that they’ll be burning off its only remaining new comedy, Save Me, during the summer. Starring Anne Heche as a woman who believes God is speaking to her after she nearly chokes to death on a sandwich, Save Me looked to be one of the better comedies from NBC’s 2012-13 lineup (albeit a lineup that also included 1600 Penn and Animal Practice) when the network announced its schedule last May. It’s a shame that the network is just unceremoniously burning it off this summer without even giving it a chance during the traditional broadcast season, meaning that NBC probably isn’t even considering the possibility of a second season. Fox is doing the same thing with its sole midseason sitcom, The Goodwin Games, and dropping it this summer without giving it a shot to prove itself.  NBC set Save Me to premiere Thursday, May 23rd, at 8pm with two new episodes. The remaining 11 episodes will air throughout the summer, when viewers traditionally abandon broadcast TV for cable – which is happening more and more year-round too.
