Party Lines Slideshow: Sarah Paulson Talks Boats
Mud’s story begins when two boys find Matthew McConaughey living in a boat suspended in a tree, which made us wonder: Just how often do boats and crazy situations go hand in hand? Turns out, quite often. Almost everyone at the Cinema Society screening for Mud last week had a story to share. Sarah Paulson, who stars in the film, had her high-school prom on a boat at South Street Seaport. “I don’t remember half of it,†she told us. “I was very intoxicated, as one is [at one’s prom].†Even though she was underage at the time? “Yeah, I don’t know where I got that liquor from! Some bad person sold it to me. I’m sure some vomiting was involved. And I wore a really hideous prom dress. It was all a disaster.†Paulson’s prom dress — a tight black lace number — might come in handy for the third season of American Horror Story: Coven, if she still had it and if she gets to play someone magical when the show starts production in July. “Something witchy this way comes!†she cackled. “But I don’t know if I’m playing a historical person or a person from the present day yet. But who doesn’t want to be a witch? It would be the most fun. I wish I was a witch in real life.†For more from the Mud carpet, click through our slideshow.
