It looks like the summer movie season is finally here: Iron Man 3 had an unsurprisingly successful debut, bringing in $175.3 million stateside and $504.8 million internationally — numbers that make it the second biggest weekend opening ever. The box office’s other offerings couldn’t put up much of a fight: Last week’s winner, Pain & Gain, took second place with $7.6 million. Jackie Robinson biopic 42 brought in $6.2 million for third place, while Tom Cruise’s Oblivion came in fourth with $5.8 million. The Croods rounded out the top five with $4.2 million — a haul that sounds more impressive when you remember that the movie has been out for seven weeks.
