Iron Man 3 helmer Shane Black is planning to direct Doc Savage, an adventure movie adapted from a series of 1930s and forties stories. “Although Doc Savage was a hit on radio and in pulp magazines and comic books, he has never had a successful film adaptation,” according to EW. “If Iron Man’s Tony Stark is a self-described billionaire/playboy/philanthropist who fights corporate terrorists and alien invaders in his spare time, Doc Savage is a scientist/physician/inventor/explorer and all-around tough guy with near super-human intelligence.” Black co-wrote the script with Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry.
