Miley Cyrus Is Totally Not Singing the Word Molly, Okay?

Miley Cyrus’s drug-referencing, Disney-trolling summer jam “We Can’t Stop†has only been in the world for a day, and already the concern pieces — complete with Urban Dictionary citations — are rolling in. So here comes the very convenient denial, courtesy of producer Mike WiLL Made it: The lyrics are actually “dancing with Miley,†as in Miley Cyrus, and not “dancing with molly,†as in ecstasy. Mike WiLL Made It would not speak to the “bathroom line†cocaine reference, or to whether Cyrus intended for you to hear “molly†and start thinking of her as a cool, rap-adjacent, all-grown-up pop star, but you can do the math on both. Miley stays being Miley.
