Which is exciting for two reasons, of course: (1) Paul Thomas Anderson is a very good director. (2) Paul Thomas Anderson and Fiona Apple dated way back in the late nineties. Sadly, the video does not turn out to be an Old Loves Tumblr slideshow set to “Hot Knife,†but it does feature Fiona playing a timpani. (And also, it is totally visually compelling, though some of that might just be the power of Fiona.) See, people can overcome messy breakups to work productively together as creative adults.
