Cable network Showtime has landed an Oscar winner for its latest comedy pilot. TV Line reports that Philip Seymour Hoffman will star in a pilot called Trending Down that’s described as a “blistering attack on our youth-obsessed culture and a darkly comic examination of what it means to matter. Or matter not.†Hoffman will star as an ad man falling on hard times, and Kathryn Hahn is onboard to play his wife. The potential series was created by This American Life contributor Shalom Auslander. If Showtime orders the pilot to series, it will be Philip Seymour Hoffman’s first full-time TV gig ever.
