Vine 5 Film Festival: The Deal With Luggage

Vine is a toy from Twitter that challenges users to make the most profound work ever committed to video in exactly six seconds. Or at the very least, challenges comedians to bring a little more laughter into this world. Every Tuesday we showcase five of the funniest short shorts of the past week.

Your RSS feed might be difficult and not show the videos, but trust us - they are there.

This time around, Jerry Seinfeld, God, and possibly Haley Joel Osment make their Vine debuts, a sock puppet bails out of the bit,.the classic children’s game Operation gets a little too real, and someone goes to jail.

“My New Assistant ‘Jerry’ Just Isn’t Cutting It… “

By Marcus Johns

With Jerry Seinfeld

Marcus Johns is one of the most popular viners in the known universe, surpassing the 1 million follower mark a couple of weeks ago (Nicholas Megalis is the current leader with over 1.6 million viewers.) Seinfeld, who recently appeared on a track by the rapper Wale, is proving to be open to collaborate with artists that most people wouldn’t necessarily assume he would ever consider collaborating with. I never thought the man would ever take a pratfall, especially after making his first billion dollars, but here we are.

“Socky”

By Steven Wilber

Steven Wilber managed to survive this horrifying betrayal through Arnold Palmers and keeping himself busy meeting the neighbors, but it will be hard to top “Socky” and one of the all-time great vines, “Father’s Day.”

“Childhood Games Made Real, Pt. 3”

By Tony Oswald

Tony Oswald also suffered through trying to avoid lava in part 1, and being particularly awful at hide and seek in part 2 of the funny miniseries. Oswald has since moved on to another amusing multi-vine gag, showing audiences how to scare yourself with the cold hard truths of life.

“Divine Intervention”

By Xavi Dominguez

with Javi Diaz

A literal deux ex machina might just be what Xavi needs to get back on track and get himself back situated in that depressingly lonely chair. The special effect is impressive enough, but letting the video play for the entire six seconds to let the shot linger of that chair added a significant amount to the comedy, and to let what just happen sync in.

“Worst Teleport Ever”

By Pete C

It is as if Pete does not read Rob Delaney’s twitter account, which consistently warns us all #420NO. Of course, even the worst teleports are still far more convenient than actually taking a bus or train where you might have to look at another human being and stuff.

Playing in Theater 2

Testing the Limits of My Magic Pen by Gillian Jacobs

You get what you paid for when you buy stuff at Comic Con.

Kitty Wants His ‘Sagna by Avery Monson

Garfield has to venture outside when John isn’t around.

Nightmare On Vine Street by Nick Confalone with Marlo Meekins, Paul Zenisek, and Tyler Jacobs

Terrible father = entertaining vine.

CSI in 6 Seconds by Lamorne Morris with Haley Joel Osment and Glen Powell

If only it were this easy. The three also condensed Lethal Weapon.

Where Are My Manners #knife #fight by Zak Toscani

Your guess is as good as mine.
