Idris Elba has signed on to star in and produce Beasts of No Nation, a film adaptation of Uzodinma Iweala’s 2005 novel. Also, Cary Fukunaga has signed on to direct the movie, according to Deadline. The book tells the story of Agu, a child soldier in an unnamed West African country; Elba will play the Commandant, the ruthless head of the guerrilla group that forces Agu to join their ranks. Elba’s kind of everywhere right now, between Pacific Rim, the return of Luther, and the November release of Mandela. And now Beasts! Everything’s coming up Idris.
