‘Wild N Out’s Mikey Day Hired to Write for ‘SNL’

LA-based comedian Mikey Day is the latest addition to Saturday Night Live’s writing staff. Day is a member of The Groundlings’ Main Company, a regular on Nick Cannon’s Wild ‘N Out, a correspondent on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show, and a writer/producer for the Cartoon Network sketch show Incredible Crew. Day also co-created the wildly popular web series David Blaine Street Magic and Puppet High. The latter was for Above Average, the official YouTube channel of Lorne Michaels’s production company Broadway Video.

Day is the second new writer joining SNL so far in the lead-up to its 39th season, following the addition of iO Chicago’s Claire Mulaney, which we reported last month. It’s a big hiring year for the long-running sketch show as Beck Bennett, John Milhiser, Kyle Mooney, and Noël Wells are allegedly joining the show as featured players to fill the void left by recently-departed heavyweights Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, and Jason Sudeikis, and soon-to-be-gone Seth Meyers.
