Based on Eric Lomax’s autobiography of the same name, The Railway Man stars Colin Firth as Lomax, a former WWII POW who was forced by the Japanese to work on the Thai-Burma Railway, who, years after the war, with the support of his wife (Nicole Kidman) and best friend (Stellan Skarsgard), confronts his former captor (Hiroyuki Sanada). The Railway Man just premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival a few days ago, so there’s no word yet on a Stateside distributor and release date. Also, there’s no word on whether Firth will have as much Oscar luck playing someone who fought in WWII as he did playing a man who made a speech about it.
