There’s always talk about film actors starting to be willing to do TV, but you don’t ever imagine Halle Berry agreeing to do a show on CBS. Extant is a thriller from Steven Spielberg that was the object of a bidding war between broadcast and cable networks that CBS eventually won by offering it a full thirteen-episode first season commitment. Berry will play an astronaut who has to reconnect with her family after a yearlong solo mission in space. Her experiences “change the course of human history,†which probably means she’s an alien now. Or maybe she space-married an alien. But definitely something with aliens, right?
