’80s TV show Remington Steele is coming back, albeit with a bit of a genre tweak. Deadline reports that NBC is developing a reboot of Remington Steele, turning the 1982-1987 Pierce Brosnan detective comedy-drama into a half-hour comedy. Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad) is directing the pilot, and Jay Scherick and David Ronn (The Smurfs, The Smurfs 2) are writing it. NBC has ordered a pilot script for the show. While the original series followed private detective Laura Holt (Stephanie Zimbalist) hiring a con man (Pierce Brosnan) to pretend to be her detective agency’s fictitious boss Remington Steele, the revamped version of the show (also called Remington Steele) follows Holt and Steele’s daughter, Olivia Holt, as she reopens the Remington Steele Detective Agency and falls into the same scenario as her parents.
