NBC is developing the 1986 Tom Hanks/Shelley Long big screen comedy The Money Pit into a sitcom, Deadline reports. The original starred Hanks and Long as a married couple who buy a mansion, only to find it needs a ton of expensive repairs. The movie was a modest box office success that received mixed reviews from critics. Justin Spitzer, who was a writer/producer on The Office from its third season on, will write the adaptation, which will be produced by Steven Spielberg’s company Amblin because they made the original movie.
