NBC has given an early pilot order to Bad Judge, and Private Practice’s Kate Walsh has been cast in the lead role, THR reports. The project, originally announced in November, is produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay via their company Gary Sanchez and it follows a hard living judge whose rowdy personal life is at odds with her career as a judge in the San Bernardino Criminal Court system. Walsh will executive produce alongside Ferrell, McKay, and Anne Heche, who originally came up with the idea. Chad Kultgen, who wrote an early draft of The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, will write the pilot script. Kate Walsh and Will Ferrell have worked together plenty of times before. She played his wife in the movie Kicking & Screaming and had a bit role in the original Anchorman that was left on the cutting room floor but wound up in Wake Up, Ron Burgundy, the alternate cut DVD release.
