NBC is working with standup Jerrod Carmichael to develop a new show. Deadline reports that the network has ordered a presentation (a short pilot) to be created by and star Carmichael. A semi-autobiographical comedy, the potential show would star Carmichael as an optimistic guy “who is eager to take on the world, but is too busy taking on everyone and everything in his small corner of it.†Scott Ellis (2 Broke Girls, Weeds) is attached to direct. Carmichael played a recurring role on the Fox sitcom Goodwin Games last season and has a supporting part in the upcoming Seth Rogen/Zac Efron movie Neighbors. Carmichael placed first for LA comedians in a survey amongst comedy club bookers we conducted in January, and for more on him, check out an interview we did with him last year.
