Zoning out in a movie theater remains the best way to spend Thanksgiving’s non-mealtime hours, and this weekend’s box-office numbers were even bigger than 2012’s record-breaking $289.6 million five-day haul. This year’s total was $294 million. Unsurprisingly, Hunger Games: Catching Fire was the biggest draw, taking first place with $110 million. Newcomer Frozen, a sure-fire animated hit from Disney, opened to a $90 million weekend gross. Rounding out the box office’s top five were some favorites from weeks past, which managed to hang despite some new releases: Thor: The Dark World made $14.4 million; The Best Man Holiday put another $11.8 million in the till; and the Vince Vaughn vehicle Delivery Man eked out $8.8 million. Time to get ready for Christmas!
