NBC has stopped production on its Thursday night comedy Sean Saves the World, Variety reports. The show – which has struggled in the ratings since its October premiere – had an 18-episode order from the network, 14 of which have been filmed and 12 of which have aired. No word yet whether the network plans to play the two unaired episodes sometime after next month’s Olympics, but that seems unlikely. This cancellation paints an uncertain picture for similar Thursday night underperformer The Michael J. Fox Show, which will stay on the schedule a bit longer at least as it was given a bigger 22-episode order from NBC. Sean is the second of NBC’s three new comedies to be canceled this season, following Welcome to the Family, which was cut off after three episodes in October. Thankfully, NBC has plenty of intriguing comedy pilots and projects from Tina Fey and Andrea Martin that were given straight-to-series orders to potentially fill the empty spaces in the fall.
