According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rainn Wilson is set to star in Backstrom, an upcoming Fox drama series written and executive produced by Bones creator Hart Hanson. Based on a series of books by Swedish criminologist Leif G.W. Persson, the 13-episode crime drama follows Wilson as Everett Backstrom, “an overweight, offensive, irascible detective as he tries and fails to change his self-destructive behavior.†A premiere date has not yet been announced, but the series is set to go into production early this year. This makes Fox’s second series order for a pilot developed for another network after they saved the failed NBC pilot Mulaney back in October.
