Watch Miley Cyrus and Madonna Mash Up ‘We Can’t Stop’ and ‘Don’t Tell Me’ on Unplugged

After adding her “Open Your Heart” to “Same Love” at the Grammys, Madonna joined Miley on MTV Unplugged to add “Don’t Tell Me” to “We Can’t Stop,” creating an acoustic mash-up of the two. It was … okay? It was fine! They both did the “Don’t Tell Me” dance, a little cowboy-inspired two-step.

But what really ended up working throughout Miley Unplugged was that by cutting the cord, she took Bangerz full country: her backing band was full of banjos and tambourines, and she ended up accentuating her God-given Nashville twang. Miley can actually pull that off. Here’s a cover of her aunt Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” (which she’s sung beautifully before during her “Backyard Sessions”):

She did quite a bit of the rest of Bangerz, too, but what ended up standing out was bonus track “Rooting for My Baby.”
